King parrot morning

512px-Alisterus_scapularis_-Commonwealth_Park,_Canberra,_Australia_-male-8

when I turned back
the pool
was (almost) still
like someone gone from the room just as you enter — everything familiar
but for
the liminal
thief
vivid
feather
splashing
vermillion
in the chill
dapple.

  1. “liminal” (definition: occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold.) Brilliant! You slip this in as slick as a cut pocket outs your wallet. Nicely done. Nicely done!

  2. I like the sense of seeing/feeling something that is bright and powerful and not there. It reminds me of the continuous background sound that stops and then you hear it. I suspect part of it is humans being as inquisitive as cats, always searching for the invisible. Beautiful piece, Peter.
